Aurora Dokken

Aurora Dokken serves as Director of Music, Organist and Choir Director for the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, the Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Kingston, Ontario and Director of Upper Canada Academy for the Performing Arts.

Dr. Dokken has taught music history and theory at Queen's University and currently teaches harpsichord and directs the vocal ensemble Polyhymnia there. Before joining the Music School, she served as Chair of Keyboard Studies at Texas A&M University-Commerce, Lecturer at the University of Saskatchewan and Royal Roads University in Victoria and Chair of Music at Minot State University.

An active pianist, harpsichordist and organist, Aurora Dokken has performed in England, Hungary, Canada, the United States and Mexico. She has been recorded by CBC, Music Szalon in San Francisco and AME.

In her role as music educator, Dr. Dokken brings teaching experience in elementary, middle and high school levels, and maintains research interest in the areas of music pedagogy, collaborative, early and contemporary performance practice. Her post-doctoral work is cited in her listing in Who's Who of American Women.

Dr. Dokken served two terms as President of the Academy of Musical Arts Foundation, a registered non-profit, Texas-based organization established to provide opportunities for music study for talented but economically disadvantaged youth, and as grant writer for a San Francisco-based benevolent arts organization.
