David
Melhorn-Boe serves as Director of Music for
Chalmers United Church, as Chair of Music United, the United
Church of Canada’s association of musicians and on
the keyboard faculty of Upper Canada Academy of Performing
Arts. David Melhorn-Boe founded and served as Artistic Director
of the Rapport Singers of North Bay and conducted the Sudbury
Chamber Singers for six years, and served as Minister of
Music at Trinity United Church in North Bay for thirteen
years.
David
Melhorn-Boe grew up in Kingston, where he attended Winston
Churchill, Rideau Public Schools, and K.C.V.I. He holds
a Bachelor of Music and Education degrees from Queen's University
and a Master of Folklore Studies from Memorial University
of Newfoundland. His further studies include doctoral research
in ethnomusicology at the University of Toronto with a focus
on contemporary music of the First Nations community of
Toronto.
David
Melhorn-Boe has performed internationally in a wide range
of musical styles, and has taught music in elementary and
secondary schools and universities in Toronto, North Bay
and Sudbury. He has worked as an artist-teacher with the
Royal Conservatory of Music's Learning through the Arts
programme and as an examiner for Conservatory Canada. He
is in demand as a guest artist, teacher, festival adjudicator,
and clinician for workshops in performance, composition
and music education.
David
is passionate about music and education. He is delighted
to have returned to his Kingston home, and to have joined
the faculty at the Academy. |
