| Tammy
Wang (Limestone Swing Studio) has been teaching,
choreographing, coaching and performing Lindy Hop (swing
dance) for the past eight years, and dancing for as long
as she can remember.
Some
of the highlights of her career have included competing
at the Canadian Swing Championships, performing with the
Kingston Symphony Orchestra, and coaching the Swinger's
Dozen, a student swing troupe based at Queen's University.
Known as a playful and graceful dancer among the Lindy Hop
community, Tammy strives to help her students understand
body movement and lead/follow technique, as well as to express
their creativity.
In addition to Lindy Hop and other Swing Era dances, her
repertoire includes ballet, jazz, tap, modern, hip hop,
ballroom, Argentine Tango, and salsa. Tammy is partnered
with Kevin Temple, an avid dancer and teacher who is also
establishing a name for himself as a swing and blues DJ.
Together,
they have over 25 years of experience. Their dance philosophy
emphasizing rhythm, momentum and connection helps students
to understand true partnership in dance. Tammy and Kevin
are dedicated to the preservation and promotion of dances
from the Swing Era, and they are very excited to collaborate
with the UCA in offering classes in Lindy Hop, Charleston,
Vernacular Jazz, and more.
